Last week, the Embracer Group announced another acquisition spree. One of the most notable acquisitions – Middle-Earth Enterprises and the game adaption rights to the Lords of the Rings and The Hobbit Ips. As expected, Embracer and its investors talked about this deal (which, from the looks of it, is an absolute steal for the Swedish holding group), and based on the reactions during the company’s most recent earnings call, everyone is more than excited about this acquisition, which includes the rights to video games, board games, tabletop games, film rights, stage production rights, and more (the book publication rights remain with Tolkien Estate)....

Block storage provider, Excelero, bought by NVIDIA to be used in future enterprise software stacks Excelero NVMesh, the company’s core product, delivers software-defined block storage through networked NVMe SSD storage. NVMesh functions via networked drives on-premises or in private clouds. Last year, Excelero introduced support for Microsoft Azure. Excelero has amassed $35 million in venture capital over the previous several years, and in 2018 received an investment by Western Digital. NVIDIA will resume supporting current client agreements in NVMesh’s maintenance method, but any future products that Excelero previously introduced will be terminated and fully merged with Team Green....

This is possible thanks to the new non-exclusive licensing model adopted following the end of the exclusive deal with Electronic Arts. In fact, the development of non-simulation games appears to be nearly finished, as FIFA said they will be released in time for the Qatar 2022 World Cup due to kick off in December this year. Using an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 GPU and Intel i7 12700KF CPU, we ran the benchmark at a full 4K with ray tracing set to extreme. All of the other settings were set to extreme or ultra as well, depending on whichever was the max. DLSS was set to quality mode. As you can see from the video below, we ended up with an average of 73fps, with performance ranging from the low 60s when things got crowded on the track to the high 70s on straightaways....
